The Toshiba solution for Bath Ales

Toshiba touch-screen terminals have been selected to replace standalone tills at a West Country brewery company.

Founded in 1995 in Wincanton, Devon, Bath Ales is now based in Warmley near Bristol and has expanded to include a chain of eight pubs and a brewery shop.

In 2005 it was decided to invest in a till system that provided the required tailored functionality at each of the individual sites, rather than one that was standardised and head office driven.

Also required was streamlined information to meet current Head Office reporting needs but with the option of developing and customising the system in line with the changing needs of the business.

The solution consisted of Bristec's Boss Retail Suite software on Toshiba ST-60 integrated Touch-screen terminals, which was first installed in the brewery shop and used as a training base for managers.

The trial proved so successful that it was quickly followed up with installations in another four of the pubs during 2006, the most recent on Toshiba's latest dual screen ST-71 integrated Touch-screen model.

A further development has seen the installation of wireless Toshiba ST-71's in two marquees outside the 'Wellington' pub opposite Bristol's rugby club. The move is designed to help serve up to 2,000 customers within the 90 minute period prior to the start of matches.
